ATFL News
April 2009
Dear Friends,
Over the past two years After the Finish Line has met its funding goals,
allowing us to continue our commitment to the Thoroughbreds. This would
not have been possible without your help. You are our link to helping the
rescued Thoroughbreds that are no longer able to race or breed. The current
economy will pose some challenges. With the continued support of foundations,
corporations and individuals we can once again meet and hopefully exceed
our funding goals for 2009. It only takes one look into the eyes of a Thoroughbred
to create a magical connection that touches your heart and forbids you
to turn away. Let me thank you in advance for your donation to
help the rescued Thoroughbreds.
After the Finish Line awards monthly emergency funds to rescue organizations
across the United States. We want to be an immediate funding source for
Thoroughbreds in need. These funds can be used to rescue horses at auctions
or help with expenses such as medical, veterinarian, hay and feed. The
clock doesn't stand still when an emergency arises. We will respond quickly
to prevent suffering and help the horses heal.
After the Finish Line also awards yearly grants to Thoroughbred rescue
organizations. This month we are awarding grants to 12 worthy organizations.
Our Board of Directors applaud the dedication of each rescue that assists
Thoroughbreds in their time of need. We recognize the importance of the
efforts each rescue puts forth on a daily basis to bring a quality of life
to the horses that ask so little yet need so much. It is important for
us to be their voice when no one else will.
After the Finish Line's 2009 grant recipients are United Pegasus Foundation
(CA), CANTER Ohio, Heaven Can Wait (CA), Rein Dancer - Next Dance Thoroughbred
Rescue (NJ), Our Mims Retirement Haven (KY), CANTER Michigan, Friends of
Ferdinand (IN), GEVA, Inc. (CA), ReRun, Inc. (NJ, NY, KY, PA, NC), Square
Peg Foundation (CA) and Chez Chevaux Thoroughbred Horse Rescue (WA).
After the Finish Line also raises funding for emergency funds and grants
at our summer fundraiser. Our 2009 annual charity fundraiser, A Tribute
to the Majesty of Thoroughbreds, is planned for July 30. This coincides
with the Del Mar race meet making it an opportune time to raise awareness
of the need to help the Thoroughbreds. Our fundraiser documents, Save the
Date, Invitation, Donor Letter and Donor Agreement, can be printed and
distributed.
After the Finish Line is a national funding non-profit organization. We
donate to Thoroughbred rescues organizations throughout the United States.
You don't have to live locally to participate in our fundraiser. You can
attend in spirit if you live outside the area. Monetary and in-kind sponsorships
are available and silent or live auction items can be donated. We are grateful
for the auction donations we have already received from across the United
States. Please contact me at dawn@afterthefinishline.org and
let me what know how you would like to participate. Volunteers are welcome.
Once again, we could not do this without your generosity. We all want to
travel through life with meaning and purpose. Thank you for your devotion
to the Thoroughbreds.
Sincerely,
